March 31, 2023
Chinese medicine is profound and profound, and Chinese herbal soup has a history of more than 2,000 years, but if you want to play the maximum effect, boiling Chinese medicine is really a discipline, then in the end, how should Chinese medicine decoction is correct?

Choose a casserole for decoction

A casserole is the best container for decoction. The main reason is that the casserole does not react chemically with the active ingredients in the medicine, and it is heated evenly, which is conducive to the full distribution of medicinal effects; the casserole also has a certain insulation effect. Decoction should not use metal containers.

Add the right amount of water

After pouring the medicine into the casserole, add water to exceed the surface of the herbs by 3~5cm. After soaking for half an hour first, wait for the active ingredients of the herbs to leach out, then decoct. For the second decoction, add less water to exceed the surface of the herbs by 2cm. For tonic herbs, water can be added slightly more because the boiling time is longer; for flowers, leaves, herbs and medicines with easy texture, water can be used in moderate amount; for minerals, shells and medicines with solid texture, water should be used slightly more.

Fire first large and then small

The size of the fire of boiling medicine is closely related to the quality of the soup. If the fire is too high, the water will evaporate quickly and the active ingredients of the medicine will not be easily decocted, and the medicine will be easily scorched; if the fire is too low, the medicinal effect will not be easily brought out. Therefore, generally, after decocting with a high fire, change to a low fire to keep a slight boil.

Simmering time

The time of boiling medicine should be determined according to the nature and function of the medicine. For tonic drugs and drugs with solid texture, the first decoction is 40 minutes to 1 hour, and the second decoction is 30~40 minutes; for relieving surface sweating and drugs with easy texture and fragrant smell: the first decoction is 15~20 minutes, and the second decoction is 10~15 minutes; for general treatment drugs: the first decoction is 30 minutes, and the second decoction is 20 minutes.

Tips

1, should not add sugar to the herbs together with the decoction, so as not to affect the efficacy of the medicine, you can drink the medicine after eating gum. 2, decoction, direct tap water is not recommended, the first decoction available cold boiling water, the second decoction available warm boiling water. Most of the tap water is disinfected with chlorine, which may have more or less residue, and there are more calcium and magnesium ions, which can easily react with the herbs and may affect the efficacy of the medicine. 3, the decoction is recommended to be guarded by a person to master the fire, so as not to be Ao dry, if the juice is Ao dry, it is recommended to pour out rather than continue to add water, because its toxicity or medicinal properties are relatively large, should not continue to use.
