Although tooth extraction is not a big surgery, but if you don't pay much attention to it afterwards, it is still easy to cause wound infection.

Bite the gauze roll to stop the bleeding

After tooth extraction, gently bite the gauze roll or cotton ball placed on the wound for half an hour or so can effectively help stop the bleeding and also prevent saliva from entering the wound and affecting the wound healing. However, it is important to control the strength of the bite, not too hard, otherwise the gum will not only affect the wound healing but also increase the chance of injury and infection.

2 hours before eating

You should not eat immediately after tooth extraction, but only after 2 hours, and it is best to eat liquid food and soft food. It is also better not to eat food that is too hot, as the high temperature on the face will stimulate the wound and cause pain, and avoid the side where the tooth was extracted when chewing.

Rinse your mouth again after 24 hours

It is best not to rinse your mouth immediately after a tooth is extracted. Wait 24 hours before you start gargling for about a week. In between, try to keep your mouth clean to avoid wound infection. You should also pay attention to control your small movements and not always lick the wound with your tongue, which will not only affect the wound healing but also increase the chance of wound infection.

Increased pain is dry socket

If you find that the pain in the extracted tooth has increased after the extraction, and there is no blood clot in the extracted tooth, and there is pus in the socket, you should consider that you are suffering from dry socket, and you need to seek medical attention to take anti-inflammatory drugs and other emergency treatment. This situation must be examined by a doctor and should not be treated as a simple pain after tooth extraction.

Post-operative infection

If the pain at the wound, swelling of the soft tissue of the face, or even the inability to open the mouth flexibly, fever and other symptoms suddenly appear several days after tooth extraction, this indicates the emergence of post-operative infection, which must be promptly reviewed and treated in the hospital. Infection after tooth extraction may bring more physical harm if it is not treated in time.
