how long to wear contact lenses per day

March 25, 2023
Contact lenses are becoming more and more popular because they are comfortable to wear, aesthetically pleasing, and not easily broken. But everything has its own limitations, and there is a time to wear them, so let's learn.

Wearing time

It is recommended that you wear your lenses for at least 12 hours a day, at least 1-2 days a week without contact lenses and with frames.

Should not be worn during pregnancy

Changes in hormone secretion and water content in the body during pregnancy cause swelling of the eyelids and thickening of the cornea, which will not match the previous contact lenses worn at this time and lead to eye discomfort.

They should not be worn during menstruation

During menstruation, the eye pressure is physiologically higher than normal, and the area around the eye is more likely to be congested, so wearing contact lenses during this period will have an adverse effect on the eye.

Do not wear during the flu

Wearing or removing contact lenses during a cold can easily spread viruses from your hands to your eyes through the contact lenses, causing eye disease. Also, during a cold, the immune system of the eyes decreases, so wearing them during this time is more likely to cause inflammation than usual.

You should not wear them while swimming

When swimming, the lenses of contact lenses tend to attract pathogenic microorganisms in the water and induce eye diseases.

Should not be worn when flying

Before flying, it is recommended to remove your contact lenses. Because of the dry air and air pressure imbalance in the cabin, contact lenses are prone to deformation. Although contact lenses are aesthetically pleasing, it is advisable not to rely too much on them and to use them together with frames in order to keep your bright eyes healthy.
