Busting Common Egg Misconceptions: Sugar, Soy Milk, and Rabbit Meat

December 17, 2023

Eggs are a common food for the elderly because they are soft and easy to chew. However, there are several misconceptions about eating eggs with sugar, soy milk, and rabbit meat.

Misconception 1: Eggs with Sugar

Many people have the habit of cooking eggs with sugar syrup. However, cooking eggs with sugar can cause the amino acids in the egg protein to form fructosyl-lysine, which is not easily absorbed by the body and can have adverse effects on health.

Misconception 2: Eggs with Soy Milk

It is common for people to have a boiled egg with soy milk for breakfast or cook the egg in soy milk. Soy milk is sweet and nutritious on its own, with strong nourishing properties. However, it contains a special substance called trypsin, which can combine with the ovalbumin in egg white, leading to nutrient loss and a decrease in the nutritional value of both.

Misconception 3: Eggs with Rabbit Meat

Eggs should not be eaten with rabbit meat. Consuming eggs and rabbit meat together can irritate the gastrointestinal tract and cause diarrhea.
