Boost Your Antioxidant Capacity with Strawberries and Spinach

December 7, 2023

Recent research findings show that elderly people who regularly consume strawberries and spinach can increase their body's antioxidant capacity by 20%.

Researchers believe that strawberries and spinach are excellent sources of antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin E. These antioxidants can defend the body's cell membranes from oxidative damage and help eliminate metabolic "waste" such as oxygen free radicals. A 3.5-ounce (1 ounce equals 28.3 grams) serving of strawberry puree contains 1270 milligrams of vitamin C and 1800 international units of vitamin E.

The "flavonoids" in spinach can prevent and treat age-related macular degeneration in the elderly, thus delaying the degenerative changes and aging of the macula, which can lead to blindness or visual impairment in the elderly.

Strawberries and spinach are rich in folic acid, which can prevent and treat nutritional megaloblastic anemia, itchy skin, and bleeding. Recent foreign studies have found that folic acid can prevent leukemia and have a protective effect on the heart.
