With the development of society, beauty technology has also improved. People who love beauty will try any beauty techniques in order to have a beautiful appearance. Among many methods, acupuncture is one of the better ones and has good results. After many years of development, it has become a commonly used method for beauty. Let's find out more about the benefits of acupuncture for beauty.

The Principles of Acupuncture for Beauty

Using acupuncture for beauty is an important beauty method. It is simple to perform, safe, reliable, and has no side effects, making it widely popular. Acupuncture beauty refers to the use of needle insertion, moxibustion, and other methods to nourish the organs, reduce swelling and dispel nodules, regulate qi and blood, thereby reducing or eliminating certain physiological or pathological conditions that affect the appearance. It is a method for strengthening the body, delaying aging, and enhancing beauty. Acupuncture beauty includes two methods: needle insertion and moxibustion. Needle insertion method uses silver needles to puncture acupoints and affected areas of the skin, and then applies appropriate techniques to make the patient feel soreness, numbness, swelling, heat, etc., achieving the goal of beauty, health, and disease prevention. Moxibustion uses moxa sticks and other medicinal substances on corresponding acupoints and areas, ignites them with fire, and achieves various physiological reactions in the body through the penetration and local thermal effect of the substances, achieving the goals of beauty, anti-aging, and disease treatment.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture Helps Solve Four Major Skin Problems

(1) Facial Wrinkles

Facial wrinkles are a natural sign of aging in the human body. They generally appear around the age of 30, but due to lack of hygiene, excessive exposure to sunlight and UV radiation, or the influence of systemic diseases, the skin can become dehydrated, with excessive cell death and decreased compensation, leading to the early appearance or worsening of wrinkles.

For cases of deficiency of heart and blood (pale complexion, more wrinkles, palpitations, insomnia), the treatment should focus on nourishing qi and blood. Acupoints such as Xinshu, Pishu, Zusanli, Xuehai, Sanyinjiao, Taiyang, Tongzibao, Dicang, and Xiaguan can be selected for fine needle insertion. For cases of qi stagnation and blood stasis (dull complexion, deep wrinkles, menstrual disorders or emotional distress), the treatment should focus on promoting qi circulation, activating blood circulation, and unblocking meridians. Acupoints such as Ganshu, Changshu, Xuehai, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, and Taichong can be selected for fine needle insertion.

(2) Acne

Acne is more common among young people. This is due to hormonal imbalances during puberty or congenital development of sebaceous glands, leading to excessive sebum secretion. It can also be caused by bacterial infection of the sebaceous glands, resulting in chronic inflammation and the formation of acne. Both types can cause papules on the skin surface, which eventually turn into acne.

At the early stage of acne, there are red papules with white sebum when squeezed. It is often aggravated by consuming spicy foods or fatigue. The treatment should focus on clearing lung and stomach heat. Acupoints such as Xiaguan, Jiaji, Zanzhu, Dazhui, Feishu, Fenglong, Shaoshang, Yuzhi, and Neiting can be selected for needle insertion or bleeding. Over time, black papules may appear, which come and go, and even cover the entire face. This is due to lung and stomach heat stagnation, causing local blood stagnation. The treatment should focus on promoting blood circulation, removing stagnation, and clearing stomach heat. Acupoints such as Suiyu, Xuehai, Zusanli, and local acupoints of acne can be selected.

(3) Pigmented Moles

Normal people have melanocytes in the basal layer of the epidermis, which can synthesize melanin. The amount of melanin determines the color of the skin. Excessive sun exposure causes the skin to darken due to excessive synthesis and release of melanin, which is a physiological phenomenon. However, when melanin and its cells accumulate due to certain reasons, pigmented moles form, affecting appearance.

According to traditional Chinese medicine, this condition is caused by stagnation of turbid qi in the kidney meridian. The treatment should focus on tonifying the kidney and promoting turbidity. Acupoints such as Shenshu, Taixi, Rangu, Zhongji, and Taichong can be selected. Needle insertion can be used, or local fire needling can be quickly performed, but the depth should not exceed the bottom of the mole.

(4) Melasma

Melasma mostly occurs in middle-aged and young women. Clinically, it mainly manifests as symmetric butterfly-shaped brownish patches on the central part of the face. It can also occur on the bridge of the nose, eyebrows, and upper lip, appearing as asymmetric brownish patches. Modern medicine believes that it is mainly related to endocrine disorders. Estrogen can stimulate melanocytes to secrete melanin, while progesterone can promote the transport and diffusion of melanin, hence melasma is more likely to occur in gynecological diseases and during pregnancy.
