The Art of Acupuncture: Four Points for Healthy and Effective Beauty Maintenance

March 19, 2024

Beauty is the lifelong pursuit of every woman, and businesses have seen the huge business opportunity here, launching various beauty products for women. However, many of them are not very effective, and some products may even have side effects. So, what methods can effectively and healthily maintain one's appearance? I have to mention the traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture beauty method. Here, I recommend four acupuncture points for you to try!

Acupuncture Points

Zu San Li (Stomach 36)

Zu San Li can be regarded as the number one "bodyguard" for women's beauty. Why do I say that? Zu San Li belongs to the stomach meridian and is a commonly used acupuncture point for treating spleen and stomach diseases. The spleen and stomach are the foundation of the acquired constitution. The food and water that enter the stomach need to be transformed by the spleen and stomach into nutrients and then supplied to the whole body. The role of the spleen and stomach in the body is like a food processing plant. If the plant does not function properly, the food supply will be insufficient, leading to physical exhaustion and a dull complexion. Diseases related to the respiratory system, cardiovascular system, urinary system, gynecological diseases, and other deficiencies may be caused by poor spleen and stomach function. Therefore, any health problems caused by insufficient spleen and stomach function can be treated and maintained using Zu San Li. The human body is like a skyscraper, and the spleen and stomach are the foundation of the building. If the spleen and stomach are healthy, one's health will be solid. Zu San Li is the "bodyguard" of the spleen and stomach, so ladies who want to maintain their beauty should make good use of Zu San Li.

Zu San Li is located on the leg. You can find it while sitting. Sit upright with your knees at a right angle. Place your palm on the knee of the same side, with the thumb excluded and the other four fingers pointing downward. Use your index finger to press the shinbone below the knee. The tip of your middle finger is Zu San Li.

This acupuncture point is very effective. You can massage it whenever you have free time, without paying attention to the massage technique and frequency. You can also use moxibustion. Buy a moxa stick, ignite it, and hold it about 3 centimeters away from Zu San Li, until the skin feels warm. Each moxibustion session should last about 15 minutes, and it can be done regularly.

Xue Hai (Sea of Blood)

For women, blood is the foundation of beauty. If you want to have a rosy complexion, you must nourish and supplement your blood. How can you nourish your blood? In addition to paying attention to daily dietary nutrition and ensuring the supply of substances that produce blood, you can also fully utilize acupuncture points. Xue Hai is a "star" for nourishing and supplementing blood. Xue Hai belongs to the spleen meridian, and traditional Chinese medicine believes that the spleen governs blood. This acupuncture point is where the blood converges, and it controls various blood-related diseases. When you are not sick, nourishing and supplementing blood through Xue Hai is self-evident.

Where can you find Xue Hai? It is located on the inner side of the thigh, about 2 inches above the inner end of the kneecap. When locating the point, lie on your back on a bed, extend your thigh and calf with force, and you will feel a bulging muscle about 2 inches above the inner upper edge of the patella. The midpoint of this muscle is Xue Hai.

How do you use Xue Hai? Simply massage it frequently when you have time.

Tai Xi (Supreme Stream)

Let's take a look at the name "Tai Xi" first. "Tai" means big or many, and "Xi" means stream. Combined, it roughly means a lot of streams. What benefits does this have for women's beauty? Isn't there a saying that goes, "A woman is made of water"? To have moisturized skin, you naturally cannot do without the nourishment of water. Tai Xi is an important acupuncture point in the body that provides a "source of water."

Among the five zang organs and six fu organs in the human body, the kidneys are related to water and store essence. If the kidneys are deficient and the water in the body is not enough to control the fire, excessive heart fire will lead to various problems such as insomnia, internal heat, thirst, constipation, dry skin, and a dull complexion. Without nourishing the kidneys, maintaining beauty is impossible. Tai Xi is the original point of the kidney meridian, like a warehouse that stores kidney qi. When the body lacks kidney qi, it can be allocated from this warehouse. Therefore, for women who want to maintain their beauty, they must not neglect Tai Xi. Additionally, Tai Xi is a major acupuncture point for supplementing original qi. By frequently using Tai Xi, the body's original qi will be abundant, and the overall body condition will improve.

Tai Xi is easy to find. It is located on the inside of the foot, behind the medial malleolus. The depression between the Achilles tendon and the inner ankle is Tai Xi.

The usage of Tai Xi is also simple. You can massage it or use moxibustion. Massage it frequently when you have time, or use moxibustion for 15 minutes. Regular moxibustion on Tai Xi will naturally replenish kidney qi and give you a ruddy and moisturized complexion.

Shen Men (Spirit Gate)

As the name suggests, Shen Men is an important acupuncture point for nourishing the heart and calming the spirit. Shen Men belongs to the heart meridian, and traditional Chinese medicine believes that the heart governs the spirit. Any health problems related to the spirit and mind can be treated with Shen Men. Shen Men is the original point of the heart meridian, and its function is similar to a warehouse that stores the qi of the heart meridian. Modern women often face high work pressure, leading to various mental problems such as insomnia, forgetfulness, and irritability. Over time, they will feel mentally exhausted and have a tired appearance. What should be done in this situation? Nourish the heart and calm the spirit. Shen Men, the "bodyguard" acupuncture point, can be used at any time.

Where can you find Shen Men? It is located on the wrist. On the ulnar side of the palm, there is a prominent round bone. You can feel a large tendon behind the edge of this bone, at the intersection with the outer edge of the wrist where the transverse crease is (on the side of the little finger). That is Shen Men. By regularly massaging Shen Men, you can not only calm your mind but also maintain your appearance, killing two birds with one stone.
