"Palace Cold" refers to the coldness in the uterus, and its most common symptom is dysmenorrhea. Traditional Chinese medicine moxibustion is a good method for regulating palace cold. Moxibustion on certain acupoints not only promotes blood circulation but also prevents and treats various diseases, effectively regulating palace cold in women.

Palace Cold Moxibustion Acupoints

1. Guanyuan Acupoint

Guanyuan acupoint is located three inches below the belly button. Moxibustion on Guanyuan acupoint can enhance the body's yang energy and nourish deficiencies. It is effective for symptoms such as deficiency of yang energy, weakness and fear of cold, and has the functions of nourishing the origin and consolidating the foundation, and supplementing the lower jiao.

2. Shenque Acupoint

Shenque acupoint is an important acupoint on the Ren Meridian. When the body's qi, blood, yin, and yang are imbalanced and diseases occur, stimulating or applying medicine on Shenque acupoint can adjust the balance of yin and yang.

3. Mingmen Acupoint

Mingmen acupoint is located between the second and third lumbar spinous processes, and it is also necessary to add the bilateral Shenshu acupoints 3 centimeters away from the midline of the back. Moxibustion on Mingmen acupoint can strengthen the kidneys and consolidate the foundation, and treat conditions such as female menstrual disorders and habitual miscarriage caused by deficiency and coldness.

4. Qihai Acupoint

This acupoint is located in the lower abdomen, dividing the line connecting the belly button and the pubic bone into ten equal parts, and it is at 3/10 of the distance from the belly button. Moxibustion on this acupoint has the functions of preventing and treating menstrual disorders, excessive menstrual flow, and infertility.

Methods of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Regulating Palace Cold

1. Daily Exercise

Brisk walking is the simplest method. Walking, especially on pebble roads, can stimulate the meridians and acupoints on the soles of the feet, promote the circulation of qi and blood, improve blood circulation, and make the whole body warm.

2. Menstrual Period Care

Drink water boiled with brown sugar and moxa leaves to warm the uterus, dispel coldness, and promote blood circulation. Drink brown sugar water for three days before menstruation to increase the discharge and better cleanse the menstrual flow, invigorate qi and blood, and warm the uterus.

3. Daily Nourishment

Eat foods such as wolfberries, walnuts, longan, jujubes, mulberries, angelica, chicken blood vine, ginger, and chicken or mutton soup. The soup can warm the kidneys, boost yang energy, replenish essence, and nourish the blood. Palace cold constitution belongs to insufficient yang energy and is not prone to symptoms of excessive internal heat.

4. Herbal Foot Soak

Boil water with moxa leaves, cinnamon, and Sichuan peppercorns, and soak the feet to warm the kidneys, dispel coldness, and promote meridian circulation.

Precautions for Palace Cold Moxibustion

1. Control the Time

Do not do moxibustion for too long at a time, generally not more than an hour, with 30 to 40 minutes being the best. Moxibustion for too long can cause dryness in the mouth and throat, constipation, and may lead to blistering of the local skin.

2. Persist in Long-Term Practice

In daily health moxibustion, moxibustion can be done on 2 to 3 acupoints each time, with each acupoint being moxibusted for 10 to 20 minutes.

There are four time options: moxibustion every other day or moxibustion for two days and then one day off; moxibustion 3 to 5 days per week; continuous moxibustion for 10 days and then one week off. Avoid long-term continuous moxibustion or moxibustion only when remembered.

3. Concentrate Attention

When doing moxibustion, pay attention and avoid being distracted, as being distracted can easily cause self-burns or damage to things in the house. Focusing on moxibustion and experiencing the heat of moxibustion with a calm mind is more effective than doing other things while moxibusting.

4. Detoxify Before Moxibustion

Drink a cup of warm water that is slightly hotter than body temperature before and after moxibustion (do not drink cold or ice water), which helps to eliminate toxins from the body.
