Mastering the Art of Applying False Eyelashes: Tips for Long-lasting Wear

October 28, 2023

Many people who use false eyelashes may have encountered this situation: the false eyelashes that were perfectly attached in the morning fall off by the afternoon, making their eye makeup awkward. This is because you haven't mastered the technique of keeping false eyelashes in place. Follow the steps below to apply false eyelashes that won't easily fall off.

Step 1: Take out the false eyelashes

Bend the transparent eyelash box outward so that the eyelashes can fan out and detach from the box. Use the pad of your fingers to pinch the middle part and take out the eyelashes. Doing so ensures even force on your hand and prevents damage to the eyelashes during the removal process.

Step 2: Arrange the false eyelashes

Hold the false eyelashes with your left fingertips to prevent them from moving randomly, and then use your right fingernail to gently remove the residual glue stuck on the false eyelashes.

Step 3: Trim the false eyelashes

Then, hold one end of the false eyelashes with one hand and use a small pair of scissors to trim off any excess transparent stalk. After trimming one end, switch to the other end and trim it as well.

Step 4: Cut the false eyelashes at 1/3 from the inner corner

In order to prevent the false eyelashes from easily falling off, we need to cut them at 1/3 from the inner corner, so that the false eyelashes become two sections, one long and one short.

Step 5: Apply eyelash glue

Gently squeeze a drop of eyelash glue on the mouth of the bottle. If you don't use it all, you can squeeze it back. Then, bring the false eyelashes close to the eyelash glue, making sure to apply the glue evenly on the transparent stalk, not too much or too little.

Step 6: Attach the false eyelashes

When attaching the false eyelashes, start with the back half. Since the length of the eyelashes becomes shorter, there won't be any pressure on the curvature. The back half is positioned closer to a straight line, so the back half of the false eyelashes should be slightly longer. Use tweezers to assist in attaching them to the outer corner of the eye, and press a few times to secure them. Then, attach the front half, allowing for a 1mm overlap with the back half.

Step 7: Touch up with eyeliner

After attaching the false eyelashes, using eyeliner can make the white glue and transparent stalk less noticeable. So, apply the eyeliner mainly on the transparent stalk and apply less on the skin.
