Xianhe grass is a strong astringent and hemostatic medicine, with multiple effects such as strengthening the heart, stopping bleeding, and antibacterial. Besides being used as medicine, Xianhe grass can also be added to medicated diets. Below, we recommend several ways to consume Xianhe grass.
Xianzao Red Bean Porridge
Ingredients: 100g coix seed, 50g adzuki beans, 60g Xianhe grass, 50g jujube (dried), 30g sugar
Method: Soak the coix seed and adzuki beans in warm water for half a day. Wrap the Xianhe grass in gauze. Remove the jujube pits and set aside. Cook the Xianhe grass, jujube, adzuki beans, and coix seed with water to make a thin porridge. Add sugar to taste.
Xianju Tea
Ingredients: 30g Xianhe grass, 15g chrysanthemum flower, 15g honeysuckle flower, 6g licorice, 24g quartz, 30g sugar
Method: Wash the Xianhe grass, chrysanthemum flower, honeysuckle flower, licorice, white quartz, and purple quartz separately, and then put them in an aluminum pot. Add an appropriate amount of water and boil with high heat. After 20 minutes of simmering, filter out the residue and keep the juice. Then add sugar to the juice and stir well.
Two-Grass Porridge
Ingredients: 100g rice, 60g Xianhe grass, 80g Persicaria grass, 20g sugar
Method: Wash the Xianhe grass and Persicaria grass separately and put them in a pot. Add an appropriate amount of water and boil. After 25 minutes, filter out the residue and keep the juice. Wash the rice and put it in the pot. Add the decoction of the herbs and boil with high heat. After 30 minutes of simmering, add sugar to taste.
