Disadvantages of autologous fat transfer breast augmentation

September 24, 2023
Autologous fat transfer breast augmentation is a breast augmentation surgery that involves transferring excess fat from one's own body to the breasts to make the breasts fuller. This surgery is highly sought after by many people because it can be used for both weight loss and breast augmentation without worrying about foreign body reactions. So what are the disadvantages of this type of breast augmentation?

Not suitable for everyone

Autologous fat transfer breast augmentation is not suitable for all people. Since autologous fat breast augmentation is taken from a person's own fat cells, it is difficult to achieve a certain effect if the person is not full enough, so autologous fat breast augmentation is more suitable for women with certain breast foundation.

Higher absorption rate

The absorption rate of autologous fat is higher in breast augmentation surgery. The fat injected into the breast will be absorbed by the body at a faster rate, especially if the breast augmentation surgeon is inexperienced and the amount of fat injected cannot be controlled well, it is also easy to accelerate the absorption of fat and shrink the breast again.

Lower Survival Rate

If the quality of fat is poor, the survival rate will be lower and the breast augmentation will be maintained for a longer period of time and the effect of breast augmentation will be poorer. Nowadays, there are doctors who blunt the sucked fat to remove impurities and only use high purity fat particles for injection to improve its survival rate.

Cannot be done at once

Breast augmentation with autologous fat transfer cannot be done in one go. The amount of fat needed for each person's breast is different. Those with a certain foundation may be able to achieve breast augmentation with 1~2 injections, while those with a weak foundation may need 3~6 injections to achieve fuller breasts, but the results are not necessarily the best. Moreover, in order to reduce complications, we generally recommend that breast augmentation with autologous fat transfer be performed slowly in small amounts and many times.

Wrong way of liposuction destroys fat

Autologous fat transfer requires fat extraction from parts of the body that have more fat, and fat that can be used for breast augmentation. If you use resonance, ultrasound, electronic, laser and other liposuction methods, human fat will be destroyed, so the survival of the extracted fat is almost zero. Green liposuction is usually needed to extract localized excess fat without destroying it.

Too much fat should not be transplanted at one time

For breast augmentation by autologous fat transfer, too much fat should not be injected at one time in order to pursue the firmness and fullness of the breast, otherwise the large amount of fat that cannot survive effectively will be easily absorbed by the body or hardened into fatty nodes, and the human body will easily feel a small breast tumor when touched, and then the surgery to eliminate these fatty nodes must be carried out again.
