Stroke is a common disease among middle-aged and elderly people, and many people are left with sequelae after a stroke. Traditional Chinese medicine scraping therapy has a therapeutic effect on the sequelae of stroke. So what are the scraping treatment methods for the sequelae of stroke?
Scraping Method 1 for the Sequelae of Stroke
Acupoints:
Du Meridian (Yamen to Waist Yu) on both sides, Bladder Meridian (Chest 1 to Sacrum 4), Jianyu, Quchi, Hand Sanli, Yangchi, Hegu, Huantiao, Yanglingquan, Xuanzhong, Biguan, Futu, Zusanli, Xie Xi, Taichong.
Treatment:
Use scraping method combined with point kneading. First scrape Du Meridian and Bladder Meridian on both sides, then scrape Jianyu, Quchi, Hand Sanli, Yangchi, Hegu, then scrape Huantiao, Yanglingquan, Xuanzhong, and finally scrape Biguan, Futu, Zusanli, and knead Xiexi and Taichong. Use moderate and gentle force until the skin feels hot and appears sha marks. Once a day or every other day.
Main treatment:
Sequelae of stroke.
This method is an adjuvant therapy and often needs to be combined with functional exercise, acupuncture, massage, and other comprehensive therapies to achieve recovery. It is also important to maintain stable emotions and a proper diet. Treatment should be adhered to in order to be effective.
Scraping Method 2 for the Sequelae of Stroke
Acupoints:
If the disease is in the upper limb, take Jianyu, Jianzhen, Zhongfu, Quchi, Hand Sanli, Waiguan; if the disease is in the lower limb, take Dachangshu, Huantiao, Biguan, Fengshi, Sanyinjiao, Yanglingquan, Zusanli; for hemiplegia, take 3 or 4 points on the upper and lower limbs.
Treatment:
Use scraping method. Select acupoints according to the location of the disease, from top to bottom, repeatedly scrape until purplish-red points appear on the skin. Use moderate force and a wide range of operation. Once a day or every other day, with 30 treatments as one course.
Main treatment:
Hemiplegia after stroke or limb pain.
Adhering to treatment can have certain therapeutic effects. Combined with other therapies, the effectiveness can be improved.
Scraping Method 3 for the Sequelae of Stroke
Acupoints:
0.5 inch and 1.5 inch on both sides of the spine, as well as the inner and outer sides of the hands and feet.

Use scraping method. For upper limb hemiplegia, scrape the cervical vertebrae and thoracic 1 to 10, as well as the inner and outer sides of the upper limb; for lower limb hemiplegia, scrape the thoracic 8 to 12, lumbar vertebrae, and the inner and outer sides of the lower limb; for hemiplegia on one side of the body, scrape all the corresponding acupoints on the upper and lower limbs. From top to bottom, from inside to outside, from light to heavy, scrape until purplish-red points appear on the skin. Once every other day, with 30 days as one course.
Main treatment:
Hemiplegia or upper and lower limb paralysis after stroke.
If combined with external treatment using Shan Jia Bai Wu San and hot fumigation, the effect will be better.
Scraping Method 4 for the Sequelae of Stroke
Acupoints:
On both sides of the spine, shoulder area, upper limbs focus on the cervical vertebrae to thoracic 1 to 10 and their sides in 5 lines, as well as the deltoid-trapezius area, front and back of the arm, elbow bend area, inner and outer sides of the elbow, palm area, back of the hand, focus on thoracic 8 to 12 and lumbar vertebrae and their sides in 5 lines, buttocks, front, inner, outer, and back sides of the thigh, knee bend area, inner, outer, and back sides of the calf, dorsum of the foot, and abnormal areas.
Treatment:
Use scraping method. First scrape both sides of the spine (from the cervical vertebrae to sacrum 4), from top to bottom, lightly scrape 3 lines, then scrape the shoulder area (deltoid-trapezius), from top to bottom, scrape 1 line as a routine treatment. Then scrape the affected acupoints according to the location of the disease (for upper limbs, focus on the cervical vertebrae to thoracic 1 to 10 and their sides, and abnormal reaction areas; for lower limbs, focus on thoracic 8 to 12 and lumbar vertebrae and their sides, and abnormal reaction areas), until sha marks appear on the skin. Then scrape the corresponding areas according to the location of the disease. Once a day or every other day, with 30 treatments as one course.
Main treatment:
Hemiplegia or upper and lower limb paralysis after stroke.
This disease is difficult to treat and takes time. Patience and treatment are necessary to achieve good results. Active cooperation with functional exercise is also important. I often combine other therapies such as massage, acupuncture, and comprehensive treatments, which are better than single therapy.

Precautions for Scraping Therapy
1. Precautions before scraping
1. Scraping therapy requires exposed skin, and when scraping, the skin pores are open and releasing sweat. If it encounters pathogenic wind, the pathogenic qi can directly enter the body through the open pores, affecting the effectiveness of scraping therapy and easily causing new diseases. Therefore, before scraping, it is necessary to choose a good treatment place with fresh and ventilated air, pay attention to keeping warm, avoid drafts, and avoid scraping in places with drafts in summer. Expose as little skin as possible.
2. Choose a comfortable position for scraping to facilitate scraping and prevent dizziness from scraping.
3. The scraping tools must be strictly disinfected to prevent cross-infection. Carefully inspect the scraping tools before scraping to avoid scraping the skin.
4. The hands of the practitioner should also be disinfected.
5. Before scraping, explain the general knowledge of scraping to the patient to eliminate their fear and obtain their cooperation to avoid dizziness from scraping.
6. Do not perform scraping treatment on patients who are extremely hungry, full, or excessively tense.
2. Precautions during scraping
1. The scraping technique should be evenly and forcefully applied, bearing the patient's tolerance in mind, and stopping when sha marks appear.
2. For infants and the elderly, the scraping technique should be gentle.
3. Do not blindly pursue sha marks and use heavy scraping or prolong the scraping time. The amount of sha marks is influenced by many factors. Generally, blood stasis syndrome produces more sha marks; excess syndrome and heat syndrome produce more sha marks; deficiency syndrome and cold syndrome produce fewer sha marks; those who have taken too many medicines, especially corticosteroids, are not easy to produce sha marks; obese and muscular individuals are not easy to produce sha marks; sha marks are less likely to appear on yin meridians compared to yang meridians; sha marks are less likely to appear when the ambient temperature is low.
4. During the scraping process, frequently inquire about the patient's feelings. If dizziness occurs, such as fatigue, dizziness, pale complexion, nausea, cold sweats, palpitations, cold extremities, or decreased blood pressure and loss of consciousness, immediately stop scraping. Comfort the patient and avoid panic, help them lie down, keep them warm, drink warm water or sugar water. If the symptoms do not improve, lightly press the Shuigou acupoint with the corner of the scraping board to avoid edema after heavy pressure. Use xie method to scrape the Baihui acupoint and Yongquan acupoint. After the patient's condition improves, continue to scrape Neiguan acupoint and Zusanli acupoint.
3. Precautions after scraping
1. Scraping treatment opens the sweat pores, expels pathogenic qi, and consumes some body fluids, so after scraping, the patient should drink a cup of warm water and rest for a while.
2. After scraping treatment, in order to prevent pathogenic wind invasion, the skin pores should be allowed to close and return to their original state before bathing, which usually takes about 3 hours.
3. For patients with complicated and critical conditions, in addition to scraping treatment, other therapies should be combined, such as medication, to avoid delaying the condition.
Symptoms of the Sequelae of Stroke
Stroke is common in middle-aged and elderly patients, and most cases are related to arteriosclerosis. Many patients have sequelae after the acute phase.
The clinical manifestations of sequelae of stroke are mainly slanted mouth and eye, difficulty in speech, hemiplegia or upper and lower limb paralysis, limb pain, and other symptoms.
How to Recover from the Sequelae of Stroke
1. Rehabilitation training for limb movement disorders
For patients with limb movement disorders, active assistance in functional exercise is necessary. Start with simple limb movements, require full and moderate activity to avoid muscle damage. Exercise two to three times a day, and timely combine with medication treatment. Massage the patient's limbs to assist in acupuncture treatment, which can help with functional recovery.
2. Rehabilitation training for language disorders
If the patient has language disorders, they often have anxious emotions. In the nursing process, regular contact with these patients is necessary. Encourage them to speak as much as possible, patiently correct any language errors, and start with simple and gradually progress to more complex language exercises. Persistence is key.
3. Rehabilitation training for facial asymmetry
Facial asymmetry is the most common sequela among stroke patients. At this time, patients often have negative emotions. Family members should pay more attention to the patient's emotions and provide encouragement. Encourage the patient to perform facial exercises and provide facial massages.
