Symptoms of Breast Hyperplasia

Breast Swelling and Pain

It is common for one or both breasts to feel swollen or tender. The course of the disease varies from 2 months to several years, and most patients experience cyclic pain, which worsens before menstruation and improves or disappears after menstruation. It is important to note that although cyclic breast pain is a typical manifestation of this disease, the absence of this characteristic does not negate the presence of the lesion.

Breast Lumps

The lumps are often multiple, unilateral or bilateral, with a higher incidence in the upper outer quadrant. The size and texture of the lumps also often change cyclically with the menstrual cycle. Before menstruation, the lumps increase in size and become harder, while after menstruation, the lumps shrink and become softer. Upon palpation, nodules of different sizes can be felt, with an unclear boundary from the surrounding tissue. They are often tender, can be pushed, and do not adhere to the skin or deep tissues. The axillary lymph nodes are not enlarged.

There may also be a long course, slow development, and occasional nipple discharge. The different-sized nodules in the breast are actually some cystic dilated large and small lactiferous ducts, and the nipple discharge comes from these cysts, which can be yellowish-green, brown, or bloody, and occasionally colorless and serous.

Menstrual Disorders

Patients with this disease may also have irregular periods, with lighter or paler menstrual flow, and may be accompanied by dysmenorrhea. Because the main cause of breast hyperplasia is hormonal imbalance, most patients show breast pain with lumps, but some women may also show symptoms of menstrual disorders, and patients should also be aware of the harm caused by menstrual disorders.

Emotional Changes

Patients often feel emotionally unsmooth or easily irritable, and the symptoms worsen after anger, mental stress, or fatigue. Among them, breast lumps are a common disease in women. Because they are located superficially, they can often be detected early through self-examination. The key is for patients to have the awareness of regular self-examination and master the correct examination methods. Once a lump is found, seek medical attention in a timely manner.

Measures for Regulating and Preventing Breast Hyperplasia

Emphasize the general survey and self-examination of breast diseases

General surveys often enable early detection and timely treatment, and regular self-examination can also help timely detect suspicious breast lumps, abnormal nipple discharge, etc.

Timely marriage and childbirth, and active breastfeeding

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are physiological regulations of breast function. Therefore, timely marriage and childbirth, and breastfeeding are beneficial to the breast. Breastfeeding should last for at least 1 year, and attention should be paid to keeping the nipples clean and avoiding trauma.

Actively prevent and treat related gynecological diseases, such as menstrual disorders, uterine fibroids, etc.

More than 50% of gynecological disease patients have breast diseases, most commonly in patients with menstrual cycle disorders and adnexitis, and a high incidence of breast hyperplasia has also been found in patients with uterine fibroids. Therefore, actively preventing and treating gynecological diseases is an important part of reducing the inducing factors of breast hyperplasia.

Promote harmonious and pleasant sexual life before menstruation

The breast is a target organ of sex hormones and undergoes cyclic changes influenced by the endocrine environment. Therefore, a harmonious sexual life can regulate female hormones, stimulate progesterone secretion, increase the protection and repair of the breast. Therefore, maintaining a harmonious sexual life and a regular lifestyle can eliminate factors that are detrimental to breast health.

Use beauty and skincare products with high estrogen content with caution

Some women use creams containing estrogen for a long time to beautify their skin, which can increase the estrogen level in the body and may induce breast hyperplasia.

Good living habits

Maintain a regular schedule, balance work and rest, and keep regular bowel movements. Because a regular lifestyle can prevent the occurrence of breast hyperplasia.
