Fire therapy is a method of traditional Chinese medicine that is becoming increasingly popular. After undergoing fire therapy in the summer, many people are eager to cool down with air conditioning or a fan. So, can you use air conditioning or a fan after fire therapy?
Can you use air conditioning after fire therapy?
It is not recommended to use air conditioning immediately after fire therapy, as the purpose of fire therapy is to expel cold and dampness from the body. After fire therapy, the pores of the skin are wide open, and using air conditioning can make the cold and dampness enter more easily. Additionally, after fire therapy, it is not advisable to consume cold drinks or foods.
Can you use a fan after fire therapy?
If you feel too hot after fire therapy, it is acceptable to use a fan to cool down. However, since the pores are open after fire therapy, it is not recommended to directly face the fan. Instead, you can set the fan to the lowest speed and gently blow air. Generally, this should not cause any issues.
Precautions before fire therapy
1. Make sure to have a fireproof barrier.
2. Use a towel: Place the towel on the exposed pubic hair for the abdomen, and on the Huan Tiao acupoint for the back.
3. Use four layers of towels (with a dry towel as the bottom layer), and three layers for the head.
4. When spraying alcohol, be sure to do it clockwise.
5. Do not intercept horizontally or break the alcohol spray line.
6. Before doing fire therapy, use your hands to press from the cervical vertebrae to the tailbone to check for any spinal deformities.
7. Before and after fire therapy, drink plenty of warm water (absolutely no cold water, cold food, or cold drinks).
8. Do not do fire therapy on an empty stomach.
9. Wait for at least one hour after a meal before doing fire therapy.
Precautions during fire therapy
1. When the heat becomes too intense during fire therapy, do not lift the towel. Instead, use your fingers to disperse the patient's attention.
2. Do not cover the towel again if it is too hot. After covering the towel over the fire, lift it quickly after 3-4 seconds to allow toxic gas to be expelled from the body.
3. Do not stand on the feet during fire therapy to prevent the release of toxic gas from the Yong Quan acupoint, which can harm the person.
4. After completing the fire therapy, the patient must lie flat for 10-15 minutes and should not use a pillow.
5. During fire therapy, the patient should remove their socks, and their foot temperature should be checked by touching the soles, arches, and heels of the feet. This should be done before and after two consecutive fire therapy sessions to observe any changes in temperature.
6. After completing fire therapy, avoid directly facing the air conditioning or fan.
