October 11, 2023

Safflower is a commonly used traditional Chinese medicine in our daily life. We often use it, such as using safflower oil for external injuries, or soaking safflower in medicinal wine. Safflower is closely related to our lives. How should we use safflower? What are the dosage and usage of safflower? How should safflower be correctly applied to different diseases?

Treating Blood Deficiency and Dysmenorrhea

Safflower can nourish blood and skin, promote blood circulation, and regulate menstruation. Wash 200g of safflower and let it dry. Put the dried safflower and brown sugar into a clean gauze bag, seal the bag, and put it in a jar. Let it soak for 7 days before drinking. It is recommended to drink 20-30ml once or twice a day. This method has certain effects in treating blood deficiency, blood stasis, and dysmenorrhea in women.

Treating Coronary Heart Disease

Safflower has the functions of promoting blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, and unblocking meridians. Soak 10g of Salvia miltiorrhiza until soft and cut it into thin slices. Wash 6g of safflower to remove impurities. Wash the polished rice. Then, cook the polished rice, Salvia miltiorrhiza, and safflower in an aluminum pot with 800ml of water to make porridge. This method has certain effects in treating coronary heart disease.

Treating Pressure Sores

Safflower has the effect of promoting blood circulation and dispersing blood stasis. Take 5000g of safflower and 7000ml of water, boil it for about 2 hours until the safflower turns white, filter the liquid, and then simmer it over low heat for about 3-4 hours until it becomes gelatinous. Apply the gel to the affected area using gauze, cover it with sterilized gauze, and secure it. Change the dressing once every other day.

Treating Calluses

Take 40g of safflower and 40g of Dendrobium officinale, grind them into fine powder, and mix them with an appropriate amount of glycerin (about 100g). Before using the medicine, wash your feet with warm soapy water, dry them, apply the oil to the soles of your feet, and wrap them with sterilized dressings. Change the dressing twice a day. It usually takes about a week to heal. Safflower promotes blood circulation and disperses blood stasis, while Dendrobium officinale clears heat and cools blood, which has certain effects in treating calluses.
