How to take care of a newborn baby is a difficult problem for new parents. After all, experience is important in some things. Take baby nasal congestion, for example. Blockages can make babies uncomfortable, but they are unable to clear them on their own. So what should parents do? Here are a few tips to help you deal with your baby's nasal congestion easily.
When infants have a cold and nasal congestion, they should avoid using nasal drops. Even for older children, adult nasal drops should not be used. Instead, use special diluted medication for children to avoid toxic side effects.
Newborn nasal congestion is often caused by secretions. Mothers can clean it with a cotton swab. Prepare a baby-specific cotton swab, then drip a little clean water into the baby's nasal cavity and gently clean it with the cotton swab. When the mucus sticks to the cotton swab, remove the swab. Note that the swab should not be inserted directly into the baby's nasal cavity.
Boil ginger slices and garlic slices in water, then add some salt and vinegar to the water. When it reaches a certain temperature, you can soak your baby's feet in it. Add more water when it cools down, until the baby's feet are warm and red. Then put clean socks on the baby to keep them warm while sleeping.
Cut the ginger into small pieces, microwave or stir-fry it until it is dry. After it cools down, wrap it in gauze and place it on the soles of the baby's feet. Put socks on the baby and let them sleep until morning.
Gently press a warm towel on the middle of the baby's eyes, and replace it with a cold towel when it becomes cold. This can also relieve the baby's nasal congestion.
Gently massage the sides of the baby's nose with warm hands, from top to bottom, from the bridge of the nose to the nasal wings. Pressing the sides of the nasal wings a bit longer is effective in treating nasal congestion, as massaging the acupoints in this area can be helpful.
