Waking up from a nap, I found many small red dots on my body. I thought they were mosquito bites, but they wouldn't go away. They were itchy and red, which made me very uncomfortable. Actually, it's very likely that I was bitten by fleas in my bedding. So what should I do if there are fleas in my bedding?
Reasons for fleas in bedding
1. Pets such as cats and dogs are easily carriers of fleas. Carpets and grass are breeding grounds for fleas, and pets often come into contact with these areas. Pets can easily bring fleas onto the bedding.
2. A damp home is prone to flea infestations. It is important to keep the home dry and well-ventilated. Placing some desiccants in the corners of the walls can help.
There are several methods to remove fleas from bedding.
Sun-drying the bedding
Take the bedding outside and expose it to the sun. Then vigorously shake the bedding. Fleas are afraid of this method. They hide in countless places under the sun. Repeat this process for three consecutive days.
Shaking method
Place a large plastic sheet on the ground and shake the bedding on top of it. This will cause the fleas to fall onto the plastic sheet. Shake the bedding multiple times before cleaning it thoroughly and drying it in the sunlight.
Using powder under the mattress
After washing the bedding with hot water, dry it and beat it to remove any remaining fleas. Purchase powder or camphor balls from a pharmacy and place them under the sheets. The entire room should also be thoroughly cleaned, and insecticides or disinfectants should be sprayed in all corners of the room. Avoid letting pets onto the bed.
Lemongrass for flea removal
Place lemongrass in a pot, light it on fire, and place it in the middle of the room. Shake the bedding as much as possible. Fleas will jump into the pot and be burned to death by the fragrance of the lemongrass.
Orange peel juice for flea removal
Take fresh orange peel and boiling water. Crush the orange peel into juice and pour it into the boiling water. Stir well and let it cool. Then spray it evenly on the bedding. This can remove fleas from the bedding. Remember to wash and dry the bedding afterwards.
