Many women with myopia do not like to wear frames but choose to wear contact lenses, because this way they can not let the bulky contact lenses cover their beautiful eyes and make up look better. However, there are certain contraindications to wearing contact lenses with makeup, if cosmetics accidentally fall on the glasses with contact lenses will bring serious harm to the eyes. What are the precautions for wearing contact lenses with makeup?
The danger of cosmetics falling on contact lenses
Cosmetic contamination of contact lens lenses will not only cause allergies to the eyes that are already burdened by wearing contact lenses, resulting in redness, congestion, stinging, and blurred vision, but will also damage the lenses of contact lenses, thus affecting the vision of the eyes.
Mascara and powder cosmetics should never come into contact with your eyes
When you apply makeup, whether it's powder, or mascara, when applying lashes or rubbing powder, if you're not careful, you're likely to get it on the tear film of your eyes. Taylor Rebecca, MD, PhD, of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, tells us that the above actions can not only cause the powder or mascara to come into contact with your delicate eyes, making you feel uncomfortable when wearing contact lenses, but even increase the risk of your eyes getting infected.
Choose soft-textured eye makeup for contact lens wear
If you wear contact lenses, try not to use eyeliner because it can easily rub the inside of your eyes. Eye shadow powder is a good alternative that is applied on your eyelids without getting into your eyes. If you want to use loose powder it's fine too, however, make sure your puff has some moisture as that will help the powder adhere to your skin. Liquid eyeliners are safer compared to solid eyeliners because they are softer and cause the least damage to our delicate eye skin.
Avoid wearing contact lenses for inner eyeliner
When wearing inner eyeliner, it is likely to scratch your cornea and contact lenses. In fact, 15 to 30 percent or more of the chemicals used to apply inner liner can enter the eye's protective layer, causing irritation, dryness, infection and even blurred vision. Therefore, try not to wear inner eyeliner.
Remove contact lenses before removing makeup
When removing makeup, it is recommended that you remove your contact lenses first and then start removing your makeup to avoid bringing residual makeup into your eyes. Avoid touching your mascara when removing them. Try to use makeup remover products that do not contain chemicals such as petroleum and alcohol, which can bring irritation to the eyes.
