Adjust the bike before riding

Tight pants reduce friction

If you wear clothes that are too loose on the lower half of your body when you ride, or have too much skin/fat on your body, this may also cause you pain when you ride. Any loose skin or fabric rubbing between the saddle and your body when you ride your bike will cause some discomfort over time. One of the reasons that so-called cycling pants on the market are usually made to fit very tightly is because they are designed to reduce the impact between the body and the bike. The fabric used to produce tight-fitting cycling pants will tighten the parts of your body that may be looser, making your body tighter, which in turn reduces friction with the saddle. If you're riding in loose clothing and your butt is sore, try riding in tight-fitting bike pants for a while to see if this helps you ride comfortably.
