1. If you have indigestion, consider using fewer soybeans and black beans in your Laba porridge, as they can be difficult to digest. Instead, add some warm glutinous rice and more stomach-friendly brown rice. Starchy beans and other health ingredients should be soaked before cooking to make them softer and easier to digest.

2. For diabetics, do the opposite. Do not add glutinous rice or white rice, and definitely do not add sugar. Use oats or barley to increase thickness, and add more than half of the beans to help control the rate of blood sugar rise.

3. For those trying to lose weight, the focus should be on the chewing sensation and feeling of fullness. Add fewer glutinous rice and white rice, which are easily digested, and do not add sugar. Instead, add starchy beans with thicker skins, such as various types of adzuki beans or small red beans, to make the porridge soft without becoming too mushy.
