Pseudotsuga sinensis
The pinecone is cylindrical or ovoid-cylindrical, 7-11 cm long and 3-4 cm in diameter. When mature, it is reddish-brown. The scales are kidney-shaped, about 1.5 cm long and 2.5 cm wide.
The seeds are triangular-elliptic in shape, with large wings in a triangular shape, shorter than the seeds. It has a subtle aroma and a slightly bitter taste.
It grows in high mountain areas at an altitude of 2300-3000 meters. It is distributed in Shaanxi, Gansu, Hubei, and other places.
Pseudotsuga gaussenii
The pinecone is ovoid-elongated, 5-8 cm long and about 3.5 cm in diameter, black or dark purple. The scales are kidney-shaped or fan-shaped, about 0.8-1.2 cm long and 1.5-2 cm wide, with the apical scales slightly pointed and slightly protruding.
The seeds are triangular-ovate in shape, with wedge-shaped wings. It has a subtle aroma and a slightly bitter taste.
