【Efficacy of Shuo Ze】
Shuo Ze has the functions of dispelling wind and dampness, promoting blood circulation, and eliminating stasis. It is used to treat rheumatic pain, nephritis edema, edema of the feet, dysentery, jaundice, chronic bronchitis, rubella itch, erysipelas, sore swelling, contusions, and fractures.
① "Bie Lu": Shuo Ze is used to treat itching, urticaria, and dampness obstruction. It can be used as a bath soup.
② "Ri Hua Zi Ben Cao": Shuo Ze is used to treat scabies and rheumatism. It is decocted and soaked, and the leaves are also used.
③ "Changsha Yao Jie": Shuo Ze can promote blood circulation, remove stasis, treat edema, expel dampness and obstruction, relieve symptoms, break up stagnant blood, wash urticaria, and apply to swollen and painful knees.
④ "Classification of Medicinal Properties": Shuo Ze root is used to treat muscle and bone pain, pain in both feet, and contusions.

【Prescription for treating rheumatism with Shuo Ze】
1. Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis
15g each of Shuo Ze, Hu Ci Gen, and wild buckwheat root, and 6g of Nan Wu Wei Zi root. Modification: add 10g of Gui Zhi and 15g of Wu Jia Pi for hand pain; add 10g each of Niu Xi Gen and Liao Diao Zhu Gen for pain. Take 1 dose daily, decoct 3 times, adjust the amount of white wine as needed, and complete 1 treatment cycle in 6 days.
2. Treatment of contusions and sprains
Apply 100g of crushed Shuo Ze leaves externally to the affected area, and decoct 20g of Shuo Ze with equal amounts of alcohol and water, with white sugar as the catalyst. Take 1 dose daily, and the effect can generally be seen after use.
3. Treatment of lumbar spondylosis
Take 300g each of Shuo Ze, Da Xue Teng root, Stinking Paeonia root, and Bitter Sophora root, and 200g of processed Caowu. Wash and dry them, grind them into fine powder, and mix with brown sugar to form pills. Take 10-15g each time, twice daily, and continue for 3 doses to relieve back pain.
4. Treatment of early stage liver cirrhosis
Take 20g each of Shuo Ze and Hu Zhang, and 10g each of Chai Hu, Bai Shao, Bai Ying, Jing San Leng, Jiang Hou Po, and Fu Mao. Add 5g of Tian Qi. Take 1 dose daily, decoct 3 times. Modification: add 20g of abdominal water grass for obvious ascites; add 10g each of Hong Hua and Tao Ren for spider nevi on the chest; add 10g each of Tu Bai Zhu and Fu Ling for loose stools.
5. Treatment of frozen shoulder
Take 20g each of dried Shuo Ze, Mulberry Branch, and Wu Ge, and 8g of Gui Zhi, and 15g each of Jiang Huang, Fang Feng, Qiang Huo, and Qin Jiao. Take 1 dose daily, decoct 3 times. Externally apply 100g of fresh Shuo Ze leaves, crush them into mud, add half a bottle of white medicine, and adjust with an appropriate amount of water and alcohol to form a paste.
