Methods of consuming Caokou
(1) When making braised beef at home, you can add an appropriate amount of Caokou to make the beef more flavorful and delicious;
In addition, Caokou can also be used to stew other meat ingredients, enhancing the taste.
(2) Caokou can not only be consumed as food but also used as medicine. After being used as medicine, it is mainly taken by decoction. Sometimes, it can be ground into a fine powder and taken orally.
Medicinal value of Caokou
1. Treats cold stomach, abdominal pain, vomiting, pale lips and tongue, clear saliva, and loss of appetite (equivalent to certain types of acute gastritis and peptic ulcer)
Take 6g of Caokou, and combine it with 6g each of Wuzhuyu, Yanhusuo, Gaojiang, and Xiangfu. Decoct them in water and take it orally. It has the functions of dispelling cold, relieving pain, and stopping vomiting.
2. Treats chronic diarrhea caused by deficiency and cold (chronic bacterial dysentery, chronic colitis)
Use stewed Caokou, combined with stewed Muxiang and stewed Hezi, in a formula called Caodoukou Tang.
Dosage: 1-2g, it is better to take it in pill or powder form.
Prescription example: Caodoukou Tang: stewed Caokou 3g, stewed Muxiang 3g, stewed Hezi 2.4g, Tianqin 9g, Huotanmu 9g, decocted in water and taken orally.
