FeiXingCao is a perennial twining herb. The basal leaves of FeiXingCao have 4 leaves, 2 large and 2 small, opposite each other in a cross shape. The leaves are ovate to elliptic, 3 to 7.5 cm long and 1.5 to 3.5 cm wide, with 3 main veins. The upper surface is green with light yellow-green patches, and the lower surface is red-purple. The apex is blunt or sharp, and the base gradually narrows, without a petiole.
The stem is slender and trailing, about 70 cm long. It has opposite triangular narrow-ovate to pentagonal lanceolate leaves, 2 to 5 cm long and 0.5 to 2 cm wide, with a slightly heart-shaped to circular base and short petioles, with 3 veins. The flowers are large, solitary in the leaf axils; the calyx tube has 5 linear lobes; the corolla is rose-purple, gradually narrowing at the base, with 5 lobes at the apex, and the lobes have slightly protruding truncate appendages.
The capsule is long globose, pale reddish-purple, with a diameter of about 8 mm. Flowering period is from August to September.
