Blood Full Herb is a perennial upright herb that grows 1-2 meters tall. It has long, cylindrical, and horizontally growing roots with numerous fibrous roots. The stem is round with longitudinal ridges, covered with coarse hairs, and breaks with red juice;
The leaves are opposite; odd-pinnate compound leaves with prominent paired glands; 3-11 leaflets, 8-16 cm long and 4-7 cm wide, with one larger ovate terminal leaflet and lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate lateral leaflets on both sides;
The apex is gradually pointed to long acuminate, with finely serrated margins, and the base is obtuse or broadly wedge-shaped. The base of the lateral leaflets on both sides is asymmetric, sparsely hairy on both sides, lighter in color on the lower side, with pinnate veins;
The base of the terminal leaflet is often connected to the lower two pairs of leaflets; the base of the petiole often has leaf-like stipules.
The inflorescence is a conical umbel; small and dense white flowers with yellow cup-shaped glands interspersed. The fruit is a berry-like drupe, black in color.
