Xue Shan Yi Zhi Hao is a perennial herb that grows to about 90 centimeters in height. Its rhizome is conical in shape. The stem has short, adherent hairs.
The leaves are opposite, with petioles and palmately divided, with shallow lobes or coarse teeth. The upper surface is green with a few short hairs, while the lower surface is light green and nearly hairless.
The inflorescence is terminal and elongated, with numerous flowers. The bracts are lanceolate and located above the middle of the flower stalk. The sepals are petal-like, yellow-green, and one of them is helmet-shaped on the upper side.
