Nourishing Kidney Qi: Traditional Chinese Medicinal Diets for Longevity

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the growth, development, and aging of the human body are closely related to kidney qi. If the kidney qi is strong, a person will age slower and have a longer lifespan. On the other hand, if the kidney qi is weak, a person will age faster and have a shorter lifespan. Therefore, it is necessary to timely nourish the kidney qi. Below are some recommended dietary therapies to nourish kidney qi.


 

Medicated Diet 1: Walnut Honey Tea

Ingredients: 10g walnuts, 15g red tea.

Preparation: Grind the ingredients into a fine powder, add an appropriate amount of honey, and brew with boiling water in a teacup.

Medicated Diet 4: Cistanche Shrimp Balls

Ingredients: 250g shrimp, 10g cistanche, 2 eggs, 150g flour, an appropriate amount of yellow wine, scallion, ginger, rice wine, salt, and MSG.

Preparation: Boil the cistanche in a little water for 20 minutes, strain the liquid, add flour, egg liquid, ginger juice, scallions, salt, and rice wine. Mix until it becomes a paste. Marinate the shrimp with wine, salt, and MSG, then mix with the paste. Use a spoon to scoop the shrimp paste and fry it in a pan until golden brown.

Effects: This dish nourishes kidney yang, nourishes essence and blood, and treats symptoms such as yang phlegm and weak tendons and bones.

Medicated Diet 5: Garlic Stir-fried Lamb

Ingredients: 250g lamb, 20g garlic, 20g Chinese leek.

Preparation: Cut the lamb into thin slices. Slice the garlic and Chinese leek. Put them in a bowl with the lamb and add sesame oil, salt, rice wine, starch, and monosodium glutamate. Stir-fry in a hot pan until the meat is cooked and the sauce is well coated. Serve with a drizzle of sesame oil.

Effects: This dish nourishes kidney qi and strengthens the yang.

In addition to the above dietary therapies, you can also take some bone marrow from beef, which has a good effect on nourishing the kidneys and moistening the lungs. Regular consumption of beef bone marrow also improves the skin and makes it more elastic.
