Tujia medicine: The whole plant of Dawupao is used for excessive menstruation, vomiting blood, nosebleeds, bloody stools, urinary tract infections, and dysentery; the root is used for hepatitis and colds; the leaves, when ground into powder and mixed with vegetable oil, are applied to burns and scalds.

【Medicinal Properties of Dawupao】
The root and whole plant of Dawupao, a plant belonging to the Rosaceae family, are used as medicine. They can be harvested all year round and dried in the sun.
It is a shrub, 2-3 meters in height. The stem, leaf stalks, and the underside of the leaves are covered with yellow hairs and short, curved thorns. The cone-shaped or corymbose inflorescences are borne at the top or in the axils of the leaves, densely covered with yellow hairs;
The bracts are elliptical and deeply lobed; the sepals are ovate, often with multiple lobes at the apex, and densely covered with yellow hairs on the outside. The aggregated fruits are spherical, about 1-1.5 cm in diameter, and red in color.
Dawupao has green fruits in April, turns red in July, becomes purple in August, and then black when fully ripe. The plants of Dawupao are relatively large, bear many fruits, and the fruits are black when fully ripe.

【Applications of Dawupao in Prescriptions】
1. Treatment of dysentery
Take 3 liang of fresh Dawupao root bark, 2 liang of fresh Longyacao root, and 1 liang of fresh Baijintiao root. Decoct them in water and drink the decoction three to four times a day, two small wine cups each time.
2. Treatment of coughing with blood and weakness in limbs
Take 2 liang of fresh Dawupao, 1 liang of fresh Bitter Cirsium rhizome, and 5 qian of Kuihua ganxin. Add water and boil until the liquid becomes concentrated. Drink the liquid four times a day, one teacup each time.
3. Treatment of irregular menstruation
Take 1 liang of Dawupao root, 1 liang of Daochusan root, 5 qian of Maocao root, and 5 qian of Jinyinhua vine. Decoct them in water, add rock sugar, and drink the decoction three times a day.
4. Treatment of fractures (non-open fractures)
Take equal amounts of Dawupao root, Wild Grape root bark, and Baiwei Shen. Grind them into a paste, fry them in alcohol, use manual techniques to reset the fracture, and then apply the medicine and splint. Change the dressing once a day. The dosage depends on the area of the affected area.
