Functional Indications:
This herb is used to stop sweating, nourish the essence, promote blood circulation, stop bleeding, and relieve pain. It is commonly used for excessive sweating, nocturnal emissions, vomiting blood, malaria, abdominal pain, and excessive bleeding during pregnancy.
Dosage and Administration:
Orally: 6-9g decoction; or in pill or powder form. Topical: Ground into powder and applied or used for fumigation.
Attached Prescriptions:
①To treat persistent sweating: One dried peach from a tree, two frost plums, seven roots of green onion, two stems of cotton wick, one qian of dried tangerine peel, a pinch of rice roots and barley malt. Decoct in two cups of water and consume. (From "Experience Formulas")
②To treat internal injury with vomiting blood: Calcined peach kernel (stored in an airtight container), burnt palm fiber, orpiment, cinnabar, and ink stick. Grind into powder and take three qian before bed, followed by urination and gradually lightening of urine color. (From "Commentary on the Materia Medica")
③To treat malaria: 27 dried peaches from a tree, one liang of black beans, and seven seeds of croton (peeled and with the oil removed). Prepare as a Sanmai pill with dan sha as the coating. ④To treat stagnant qi in the abdomen that cannot be dispersed: Three liang of peach kernel. Grind into powder and take two qian with warm wine before meals. (From "Divine Wisdom Formula")
⑤To treat excessive bleeding during pregnancy: Calcined peach kernel, ground into powder and taken with water. (From "Elbow Back Formula")
⑥To treat infantile scalp sores: Burned and ground peach kernel mixed with lard powder and sesame oil for topical application. (From "Divine Wisdom Formula")
⑦To treat illness caused by excessive peach consumption: Burned peach kernel ash, three qian. Take with water to induce vomiting.
