Managing Night Sweats: Dietary Therapies to Alleviate Symptoms

Sweating and night sweats are common phenomena in internal medicine diseases, usually accompanied by various internal medicine diseases. Medicated diet two: Atractylodes Macrocephala and Pig Stomach Congee

Specific method: 100g of glutinous rice, 30g of fried atractylodes macrocephala, 10g of areca nut, 200g of pig stomach, a few slices of ginger, sesame oil, and soy sauce. Wash the pig stomach and cut it into small pieces. Put it in the pot with fried atractylodes macrocephala, areca nut, and ginger. Add an appropriate amount of clear water and simmer. After the pig stomach is cooked, remove it from the pot, remove the residue, and take the juice. Wash the glutinous rice and put it into the atractylodes macrocephala soup, then put in the pig stomach. Cook it into congee. Finally, add sesame oil and soy sauce and mix well. Consume it twice a day, morning and evening, for a course of 5 days.

Efficacy: It invigorates the spleen and replenishes qi, dispels cold and dampness, and harmonizes the middle and assists yang. It treats night sweats caused by spleen deficiency.


Medicated diet three: Astragalus Congee

Specific method: 30-60g of raw astragalus, 100g of glutinous rice, appropriate amount of brown sugar, and tangerine peel. Decoct the astragalus to remove the residue and take the juice. Wash the glutinous rice and cook it into congee with the astragalus juice. After it is cooked, add an appropriate amount of brown sugar and tangerine peel, then boil it and consume.

Efficacy: It nourishes the middle and replenishes qi, invigorates the spleen and nourishes the stomach, and reduces swelling and diuresis. It is suitable for all diseases caused by deficiency of qi and blood, such as insufficient qi, internal injuries, physical weakness, night sweats, chronic diarrhea, chronic nephritis, chronic hepatitis, long-standing ulcers that do not heal, and edema in the elderly or the weak. People with signs of red tongue and few coating, and thin and stringy pulse should avoid this diet.

Medicated diet four: Wolfberry and Lily Pudding

Specific method: 30g of wolfberry, 100g of lily, 2 eggs, 15g of rock sugar. Put wolfberry and lily in a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, and cook until the lily is soft. Stir in the egg mixture while stirring, simmer it into pudding. Add melted rock sugar and consume it twice a day, morning and evening.

Efficacy: It nourishes the liver and kidneys. It is used to treat menopausal syndrome, irregular menstruation, dizziness and tinnitus, sore and weak waist and knees, irritability, restlessness, easy anger, night sweats, red tongue with little coating, and thin and stringy pulse.

There are many causes of night sweats, such as kidney yin deficiency, pulmonary tuberculosis, and other diseases that may cause night sweats. Therefore, it is important to first determine the cause of night sweats and then regulate accordingly.
