Ku Tan Zi is the seed of the leguminous plant Thick Fruit Chicken Blood Vine. It is a traditional Chinese medicinal material that can dispel dampness and alleviate pain. After the fruit is ripe, the seeds are harvested and dried to make Ku Tan Zi. Due to its high toxicity, we must pay attention to its usage when using it.
1. Treating insect bites, scabies, and ringworm
Grind Ku Tan Zi, Huajiao (Sichuan pepper), Ku Shen, Li Lu (Herba Artemisiae Scopariae), Huang Lian (Coptis chinensis), and Du Jiao Lian (Radix et Rhizoma Lonicerae) into powder, and mix with fragrant oil for topical application.
2. Treating pain caused by rheumatism and gas
Grind Ku Tan Zi into powder, take three to five grams each time, and drink with boiling water.
3. Treating malnutrition in children
Take five grams of Ku Tan Zi (calcined). Steam chicken liver and eat it, or grind it into water for oral administration.
4. Treating pain in hands and feet
Take two liang (approximately 50 grams) of Ku Tan Zi. Boil it in water and drink.
5. Treating joint pain
Take two liang of fresh Ku Tan Zi, two liang of fresh Feng He Li (Rhus chinensis), and one liang each of Shan Hu Jiao (Zanthoxylum bungeanum), Ba Jiao Feng (Acer tataricum), Gua Fu Mu (Acer ginnala), Wu Jia Pi (Eleutherococcus senticosus), and Shi Song. Add five qian (approximately 15 grams) of Niu Xi (Achyranthes bidentata) and two qian (approximately 6 grams) of Tian Qi (Radix Notoginseng) as adjuvants. 6. Treating excessive sweating due to weak constitution
Take three liang of fresh Ku Tan Zi. Boil it in water and drink with two eggs.
