  【Morphological Characteristics of Female Wan】

  Female Wan is a perennial herbaceous plant, 30-100cm tall. The stem is erect, smooth in the lower half, and has fine soft hairs in the upper half. The leaves are opposite; the basal leaves are linear-lanceolate, 5-12cm long, 5-12mm wide, gradually narrowing into short petioles at the base;

  The apex is gradually pointed, with rough edges and scattered fine serrations, and they wither and fall after flowering; the upper stem leaves are sessile, linear-lanceolate to linear, smooth on the upper surface, green, with fine soft hairs on the lower surface, rough edges, and slightly curled.

  The capitulum is numerous, densely arranged in compound umbels; the involucre is 3-4 layers, herbaceous, with membranous edges and blunt apices; there is a layer of female flowers on the periphery, with tubular ligules, white and elliptical in shape;

  Most of the central flowers are hermaphrodite, with tubular corollas, yellow, about 3.5mm long, with blunt and entire bases of anthers; the stigma is 2-lobed, with elongated oval lobes and blunt apices.

  The achene is elongated, about 1mm long, slightly flattened, hairy, with fine ribs on the edges; the corona is 1 layer, grayish-white or slightly red, with numerous rough hairs. The flowering period is in autumn.

  【Medicinal Value of Female Wan】

  1. Treatment of cough and asthma

  Cough and asthma are the most common respiratory diseases in humans. When they occur, people will feel very uncomfortable when breathing. In this case, Female Wan can be used for direct treatment.

  The specific method is to take 5 grams of Female Wan, 3 grams of Jinxian Diao white rice, and 5 grams of roadside Jing. Put these three Chinese medicinal materials together and boil them in water, then take it orally.

  2. Treatment of intestinal rumbling and diarrhea

  In the treatment, 5 grams of Female Wan and 5 grams of Cheqiancao are boiled together and drunk. Female Wan and Cheqiancao are both diuretic Chinese medicinal materials. When used together, they can enhance the diuretic effect.
