Bamboo leaf ginseng grows on slopes, under forests or in grasslands. It is distributed in areas south of the Yangtze River, Shaanxi, Taiwan, Tibet, and other places.
The dried rhizomes are flat cylindrical in shape, bent, 5-10mm long, and about 5mm in diameter, with numerous fine roots growing underneath.
The roots are cylindrical, slightly twisted, 4-10mm long, and 1-2mm in diameter. The surface is yellow-brown with fine longitudinal stripes. It is hard and brittle, with a yellow-white epidermis and a light brown wood section.
