【Botanical Characteristics of Throat Grass】
Throat grass is an annual herbaceous plant, 8-15 centimeters tall, with white fine hairs covering the entire body.
The leaves grow in clusters from the base, resembling a lotus seat, with slender petioles;
The leaf blades are nearly circular, about 15 millimeters in diameter, slightly heart-shaped at the base, with rounded teeth along the edges, green on the upper surface, and sometimes partially purple-red.
The flower stems arise from the leaf clusters, 3-7 branches, with 5-7 umbels at the top, arranged in an umbel-like inflorescence;
The calyx is green, deeply divided into 5 lobes, ovoid, persistent; the corolla is white, the lower part fused into a short tube, the upper part 5-lobed and spreading outward; 5 stamens; the ovary is spherical, with an inconspicuous stigma.
The capsule is spherical, 2-3 millimeters in diameter, and splits into 5 valves when mature. The seeds are numerous, small, and brown. The flowering period is in April, and the fruiting period is in May.
【Medicinal Formula of Throat Grass】
①For treating sore throat and oral ulcers: Grind Fodingzhu into fine powder and blow it onto the affected area.
②For treating bruises or prolonged sitting-related lower back pain: One liang of throat grass, five qian of Xiantao grass, and one qian of Luan Tou Fa. Soak in half a jin of liquor. Take twice a day, with each dose not exceeding one liang.
③For treating hemoptysis: Three qian of Fodingzhu. Grind it into powder and swallow with wine.
④For treating leukorrhea with white turbidity: One liang of Fodingzhu, one liang of bitter bamboo, and one liang of white sugar. Add three small bowls of water and boil for two bowls of soup. ⑤For treating rheumatoid arthritis: Five qian of Fodingzhu. Decoct in water and take orally. ("Guizhou Medicinal Herbs")
