[Planting Distribution of Baogai Grass]
Baogai Grass grows by the roadside, on the edge of the woods, in marsh grasslands, and near houses, or it can be a weed in the fields, with an altitude of up to 4,000 meters. It is widely distributed in Europe and Asia.
The whole plant of Baogai Grass can be used as medicine. According to the "Southern Yunnan Materia Medica," it can be used to treat external injuries, fractures, bruises, inflammation, toxic sores, paralysis, hemiplegia, hypertension, pediatric liver heat, and cerebral leakage, among other conditions.
Baogai Grass has been studied for its breeding mechanism as a weed. It has been found that most weeds have a mechanism of self-pollination.
The majority of Baogai Grass seeds are produced by self-pollination, but there is also a portion that is the product of cross-pollination. Self-pollination may be important for plants to ensure reproductive guarantees when colonizing new habitats.
Cross-pollination, on the other hand, results in genetic recombination, allowing offspring to have a rich genotype, which is crucial for their adaptation to different environments.
Therefore, the combination of cross-pollination and self-pollination may be the main factor that makes Baogai Grass a successful weed.
