Wuxiang Xueteng, Chinese medicine name. It has the effects of relaxing tendons and promoting blood circulation, regulating qi and relieving pain, invigorating the spleen and promoting digestion, nourishing the lungs and generating fluids. It is mainly used to treat bruises, fractures, strain injuries, rheumatism and back pain, joint pain, stagnant food accumulation, stomach pain, abdominal distension, chronic cough and shortness of breath, dry mouth and thirst, irregular menstruation, enuresis in children, and burns.

Deciduous woody vine. Young branches are purple or brown, with edges, and old branches are grayish-brown and nearly cylindrical. Petiole is 1-3cm long; leaf blade is inversely ovate or elliptic to lanceolate, 4-15cm long, 2-7cm wide, with acute or gradually pointed apex, cuneate base, and obvious glandular serrations or sometimes entire margins. The upper surface is dark green, the lower surface is grayish-green or pale, and the veins are prominent and raised on the lower surface.
The flowers are unisexual, with male and female flowers on separate plants; the flowers are solitary or clustered in 2-3, deep red, with a diameter of 2-3cm, and 5-8 corolla arranged in 2-3 whorls; 40-60 stamens are arranged in 4-7 rows on the elongated oval receptacle; 60-100 carpels in pistil. The aggregate fruit axis is stout, with a diameter of 6mm and a length of 9-18cm. The small berry becomes spherical and red when ripe. There are 2 kidney-shaped seeds with smooth seed coat. The flowering period is from May to June, and the fruiting period is from August to October.

The plant Wuzi Zi is distributed in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Guizhou, and northeastern Yunnan in China.
