Chinese medicinal herb Tu Yizhihao, has the effect of promoting blood circulation and reducing swelling. It is also known as Baihua Yizhihao or Mahuangxiang in nature. Although the whole plant of Tu Yizhihao is toxic, it has high medicinal value and can be used to treat various diseases.

Tu Yizhihao is a perennial herbaceous plant, 30-100cm tall. The rhizome is short. The stem is erect, with longitudinal grooves, covered with soft hairs above the middle, and branches on the upper side. Infertile branches often occur in leaf axils.
The leaves are opposite; sessile; leaf blade linear, 4-6.5cm long, 1-2cm wide, pinnately lobed on both sides, leaf axis about 1.5mm wide, entire or with 1-2 small teeth, lobe and tooth tip with cartilaginous small points, sparsely hairy on the upper side, and densely hairy and glandular on the lower side.
The capitulum is numerous, containing compound umbel inflorescences; involucre wide campanulate or hemispherical, 4-6mm in diameter; involucral bracts 3 layers, imbricate, outer layer short, ovate-lanceolate, with midrib, membranous along the margin, brown, tassel-like, sparsely hairy; receptacular bracts boat-shaped, with hooked tips;
The marginal ray flowers are pistillate, 6-16, white or pale pink, with 3 shallow teeth at the apex, the central disc flowers are bisexual, pale yellow or white, and the tube is flattened with glandular spots. The achene is elongated, wedge-shaped, 2.5mm long, with wings and no pappus. Flowering and fruiting period is from July to September.

1. Treatment of contusions and injuries
