Currently, there is an increasing number of people who are interested in traditional Chinese medicine, especially those with chronic diseases who prefer to use Chinese herbal medicine for conditioning. However, there is also a "favorable day and time" for taking Chinese medicine, especially in terms of the timing of medication, there is a "golden time" for better health recovery. Generally speaking, around 9 am and 3 pm in the afternoon are the optimal times for the body to absorb medication, also known as the "golden time", when taking Chinese medicine is most beneficial.
Chinese herbal medicine has five tastes: sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, and salty. Different types of Chinese medicine with different properties should be taken at different times.
Treatment of deficient syndrome and gastrointestinal diseases: Take the medicine 30-60 minutes before meals.
Treatment of cardiac diseases and other general illnesses: Usually, it is best to take the medicine 15-30 minutes after meals to avoid irritation to the gastrointestinal tract and reduce the occurrence of side effects.
Tonifying and conditioning the body: Medicines taken for winter tonic should be taken on an empty stomach around 10:30 am or 4:30 pm in the afternoon for better absorption. Some people suggest taking tonics on an empty stomach, but the author believes that taking them on a semi-empty stomach is better.
Digestive aids or Chinese medicine that stimulates the gastrointestinal tract: Take them after meals.
Laxative medicines: Should be taken on an empty stomach. Among them, rhubarb, powdered alum, and hemp seeds, which are used for bowel movements, should be taken in the morning and during the day.
Antiparasitic medicines: Such as "shizunzi", "heshi", and "binlang" should be taken on an empty stomach in the morning.
Sedatives: Medicines such as jujube kernel, mimosa bark, polygala root, longan flesh, and polygonum multiflorum should be taken before bed.
Treatment of injuries caused by falls or blows: It is best to take the medicine in the morning. Blood-activating and stasis-removing Chinese medicines work better in the morning and can promote the healing of injuries.
