【Morphological characteristics of Nvwei】
Nvwei is a perennial herbaceous vine in the genus Polygonum. The branches, inflorescence stalks, and flower stalks are densely covered with short soft hairs.
The leaflets are ovate or broadly ovate, with serrated edges, sparsely hairy on the upper surface, and sparsely covered with short soft hairs on the lower surface. The conical cymose inflorescence has many flowers, with open calyx lobes, white in color, narrowly inverted ovate in shape, stamens without hairs, and filaments longer than anthers.
The fruit is spindle-shaped or narrowly ovate. It flowers from July to September and bears fruit from September to October.
【Adverse effects of excessive intake of Nvwei】
Excessive oral intake of Nvwei can cause stomach discomfort, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, chest tightness, weakness in limbs, or facial swelling.
Oral administration: Decoction, 15-30g. External use: as needed, crush and apply fresh Nvwei; or boil water for fumigation and washing.
"Xin San" for chronic diarrhea and prolapse of the anus: Cut 1 sheng of Nvwei and burn it for fumigation.
"Yang's Lactation Formula" for uncontrolled lactation: Nvwei and Yunshi, each 1 liang; Chuan Wutou, 2 liang; Guixin, 5 qian. Grind into powder and make pills the size of Chinese parasol tree seeds. Take 5 pills each time, swallow with water, 3 times a day.
