【Morphological characteristics of Female Withering】
The stems of Female Withering are square in shape, reaching several meters in length. They can be twisted or cut into sections, with a diameter of 1-5mm. The surface is gray-green or brownish-green, usually with 6 obvious longitudinal ridges;
It is covered with white soft hairs, brittle in texture, easily broken, with uneven cross-sections. The wood part is yellowish-white and can be seen with many small vascular pores. The pith is loose.
The leaves are opposite, trifoliate, and the leaflets are often wrinkled and broken. The complete leaflets are ovate or wide-ovate, with the top leaflet larger than the two side leaflets, often with indistinct 3 shallow lobes;
The edges have irregular coarse serrations or teeth, dark green, and both sides have short soft hairs. The total leaf stalk is 2-9cm long and often twisted. Some have flowers and fruits. It has a mild odor and a slightly bitter taste.
Female Withering is resistant to cold (the stems and roots can tolerate temperatures as low as -10°C), drought-tolerant, prefers light but not strong sunlight, and prefers deep fertile alkaline soil and light sandy soil with good drainage.
