Cultivation methods of Baogaicao!
Baogaicao grows on roadsides, edges of forests, swamp grasslands, and houses, or as weeds in fields, with an altitude of up to 4000 meters. It is widely distributed in Europe and Asia.
The whole herb of Baogaicao is used as medicine. According to the "Dian Nan Ben Cao", it is used to treat fractures, sprains, redness and swelling from injuries, toxic sores, paralysis, hemiplegia, hypertension, pediatric liver heat, and cerebral leakage.
Baogaicao is considered a weed, so its breeding mechanism has been studied in the literature. It is found that most weeds have a breeding mechanism of self-pollination.
Most of the seeds of Baogaicao are produced by self-pollination, but a small part is the product of cross-pollination. Self-pollination may be important for plants to ensure reproduction when they explore new settlement environments.
On the other hand, cross-pollination will lead to genetic recombination, making the offspring have a more diverse genotype, which plays a very important role for the offspring of plants to adapt to different environments.
Therefore, the combination of cross-pollination and self-pollination may be the main factor that makes Baogaicao a successful weed.
