Baifu Zi Gao, a traditional Chinese medicine prescription, originated from the book "Sheng Hui" Volume Fourteen, also known as Yu Rong San. The ingredients are as follows: 0.5 liang of white aconite, 0.5 liang of mitodong, 0.5 liang of oyster (burned and powdered), 0.5 liang of chuanxiong, and 0.5 liang of white poria. It is used for treating smallpox scars that do not disappear after healing, blackened or wrinkled face.
Among the selected ingredients in this prescription, white aconite and xixin can dispel cold and dampness, expel wind and open collaterals; qingmuxiang can regulate qi and promote blood circulation; dingxiang has a warm and dispersing effect; shanglurugen can disperse stagnation and reduce swelling; jinya can dispel wind and dampness. They all have certain therapeutic effects on black spots caused by the accumulation of wind, cold, and dampness on the face, making them commonly used whitening and spot-removing drugs in beauty prescriptions. Mitodong is yellow with a metallic luster and has the functions of reducing swelling, killing insects, contracting and preserving. It can be used to treat various types of swelling, ulcers, eczema, and other conditions. Modern research suggests that this is related to its pharmacological effect of inhibiting skin fungus.
