Characteristics of Suigu Zi
The dried rhizomes and tuberous roots are cylindrical, connected in sections, with the upper part retaining some stems and leaves, rough surface, brownish-gray or brownish-black, and numerous clustered tuberous roots.
The intact tuberous roots are spindle-shaped, 1-3cm long, 2-5mm in diameter, yellow-white to straw-yellow in color, fleshy, with irregular wrinkles, and a light yellow-white color on the broken surface.
Consuming Suigu Zi
Suigu Zi can be used in two ways: external application and internal consumption.
For external use, it is usually crushed and applied to wounds, which can stop bleeding, promote blood circulation, and reduce swelling. For internal consumption, it is mainly used for diuretic and anti-inflammatory purposes.
① Treatment for nephritis: Take 15 grams of Danshu rhizome and 15 grams of Dioscorea nipponica. Decoct and take orally, once daily. (From "Jiangxi Herbal Medicine")
