  【Plant Morphology of Radix Paeoniae Rubra】

  It is a shrub that grows 1-3m tall. The stems are upright or bent in an arch shape, reddish-brown, with hooked flattened thorns. Odd-pinnate compound leaves; leafstalks are 2-4cm long, and both leafstalks and leaf axis have scattered small thorns; stipules are linear;

  There are 5-7 leaflets; the terminal leaflet has a stalk 1-2cm long, and the lateral leaflets are nearly stalkless; leaf blades are ovate, elliptic, or rhomboid-ovate, 3-6cm long, 1.5-4cm wide, with an acute apex and a wide wedge-shaped or nearly circular base;
