Cultivation Techniques for Chinese Medicinal Plant Chishangsan

Biological Characteristics: It prefers shaded and moist environments and can tolerate cold weather. It grows best in loose, fertile, and well-drained soil.

Cultivation Techniques: Chishangsan can be propagated through division and seeds, with division being the main method.

From winter when the plants are dormant to spring before they emerge, dig up the rhizomes and divide them into individual plants, ensuring that each plant has buds and roots.

When planting, plow the land and create 1.3m wide ridges, with planting holes spaced approximately 33cm apart in rows.

Plant 2 plants per hole, compact the soil around them, apply animal manure and wood ash, and finally cover with fine soil to level with the ridges.

Field Management: After planting, weed control and fertilization should be done three times a year.

The first weeding and fertilization should be done in March after the plants emerge, the second in June to July, and the third during winter dormancy. For the third fertilization, wood ash or compost can be applied.
