【Collection】 It is harvested in summer and autumn, and then dried in bundles or used fresh.

  (1) It grows in damp places such as roadsides, ditches, and thickets, or it can be cultivated.

  (2) It grows in the subalpine forests below 3000 meters above sea level and in valley grasslands.

  (1) It is distributed in the southwest and in Shaanxi, Gansu, Taiwan, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi, Tibet, and other places.

Chishang San

  It clears heat, detoxifies, promotes blood circulation, and reduces swelling. It is used to treat dysentery, leukorrhea, heat-induced headache, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, breast abscess, and injuries from falls.

  Application of Chishang San in Prescriptions

  1. Treatment of Dysentery

  Take one or two liang (30-60 grams) of Polygonum nepalense, decoct it in water, and take it orally.

  2. Treatment of Abdominal Pain

  Take five qian (15 grams) of Polygonum nepalense and one qian (3 grams) of Acorus calamus, decoct them in water, and take it orally.

  3. Treatment of Leukorrhea

  Take six qian (18 grams) of Polygonum nepalense, three qian (9 grams) of turpentine pulp, and three qian (9 grams) of sandalwood pulp, decoct them in water, and take it orally. Add white sugar for leukorrhea, and add brown sugar, rose petals, and gelatin for red discharge.

  4. Treatment of Abscesses

  Mash the Polygonum nepalense into a paste and apply it to the affected area.

  5. Treatment of Injuries from Falls

  Decoct the Polygonum nepalense in water, mix it with wine, and take it orally. (The above methods are from "Hunan Pharmacopoeia")

  6. Treatment of Mastitis
