1. Fresh Bamboo Leaf
Perennial herb, 40-90 cm tall. Rhizome is short and thick, hard. Sparse fibrous roots, the near apex or middle often thickens into a spindle-shaped tuber. The stem is weak and somewhat woody.
Leaves are opposite, broadly lanceolate, 5-20 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, gradually pointed or short-pointed at the tip, entire margin, near circular or elliptical at the base, gradually narrowed into a petiole or without a petiole, parallel veins are numerous and have obvious transverse veins, forming small rectangular shapes, smooth or slightly prickly on both sides; leaf sheath margin is smooth or with fibers; leaf tongue is small, hard, 0.5-1 mm long, with fibrous hairs.
Conical inflorescence is terminal, 10-30 cm long, with few branches, sparse, oblique or spreading; spikelets are linear-needle-shaped, 7-12 mm long (including short awn), 1.5-2.5 mm wide, with stout spikelet pedicels about 1 mm long; glumes are elliptic, with five veins, blunt at the tip, thin and membranous at the edge, the first glume is shorter than the second glume;
The outer glume is longer than the inner glume, needle-like, 6-7 mm long, about 3 mm wide, with a short pointed tip, with 5-7 veins, the inner glume is shorter than the outer glume, membranous and transparent. Nutlet is spindle-shaped, dark brown. Flowering period is from June to September, fruiting period is from August to October.
2. Chinese Fresh Bamboo Leaf
The appearance and morphology of this species are similar to Fresh Bamboo Leaf. The difference is that the leaf blade of Chinese Fresh Bamboo Leaf can be as wide as 4 cm. The branches of the conical inflorescence are shorter, 3-8 cm long; spikelets are broadly lanceolate, 7-9 cm long, 2.5-3 mm wide; glumes are broadly ovate with 5-7 veins; the first outer lemma is about 6 mm long, about 5 mm wide, with 7 veins, and a short awn that is less than 1 mm long at the tip. The flowering period is from August to September, and the fruiting period is from September to October.
【Methods of Consuming Suiguzi】
1. For external heat disease, restlessness, thirst, and heat in the qi, it can be combined with gypsum, Zhimu, and Lugen to clear heat, relieve restlessness, and quench thirst.
