Du Jiao Gan: A Traditional Chinese Medicine for Infantile Malnutrition

The whole plant of the Chinese medicinal herb "Du Jiao Gan" is derived from the plant "Du Jiao Jin" of the Xuan Shen family. It mainly grows in Jiangxi, Fujian, Yunnan and other regions in China. Due to its ability to invigorate the spleen, resolve food stagnation, and clear heat and kill parasites, it is often used to treat infantile malnutrition with symptoms of heat and parasites.


【Ingredients】

15g of Du Jiao Gan, 100g of lean pork, 1-2 slices of ginger.

【Preparation】

Wash the Du Jiao Gan, soak it in water for 20 minutes. Wash the lean pork, do not chop it, put it into a clay pot together with the ginger, add 750ml of water (about 3 bowls of water), bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat until it reduces to 250ml (about 1 bowl of water). Add a little salt to taste.

【Dosage】

This dosage is for one child. Adjust accordingly based on the child's age. It can also be divided into two doses. If used as an adjuvant treatment, it can be taken every other day.

【Efficacy】

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the Du Jiao Gan and lean pork soup has the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, invigorating the stomach, and promoting digestion. It can be used to relieve symptoms such as excessive liver fire and poor appetite in children.
