Xionghuang: Functions to detoxify and kill insects, dry dampness, dispel phlegm, and treat malaria. Used for abscesses, snake and insect bites, abdominal pain due to worm accumulation, convulsions, and malaria.
Xuejie: Promotes blood circulation, alleviates pain, stops bleeding, and promotes wound healing.
Baifuzi: Has the effects of dispelling wind, transforming phlegm, and drying dampness. Used for wind-stroke with phlegm obstruction, facial deviation, hemiplegia, wind-phlegm dizziness, phlegm-stagnation headache; externally used for scabies, wind sores, and genital itching.
Shexiang: Opens the orifices, awakens the mind, promotes blood circulation, resolves masses, relieves pain, and reduces swelling. Used for intense confusion and delirium due to fever, wind-stroke with phlegm obstruction, sudden loss of consciousness due to qi stagnation, unconsciousness due to blood stasis, accumulation of masses, acute abdominal pain, traumatic injuries, numbness and pain, abscesses, ulcers, sore throat, oral ulcers, dental caries, and purulent ears.
