【Characteristics of Sinianghuang】

The identification characteristics of the herb: The whole plant is shriveled. The stem has 4 edges, with a diameter of about 1mm, and is yellowish-brown on the surface without hairs.

The leaves are opposite, mostly fragmented. When flattened, they are ovate or broadly elliptical, with a length of 0.3-1.0cm and a width of 2-6mm. They have entire margins, brownish-yellow on the upper surface, and yellow-green on the lower surface, without petioles.

The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils. The calyx is often deeply divided to the base, with 5 lanceolate or diamond-shaped lobes. The corolla is pale red and deeply divided into 5 lobes.

It has a slight aroma and a sour and astringent taste.

【Medicinal uses of Sinianghuang】

Taste and nature: It has a sour and astringent taste and is non-toxic.

Main uses: It is used to treat snake bites or dog bites. The juice is taken internally and the residue is applied to the affected area. It is also used to treat Yin deficiency sores and rheumatism.

Dosage and administration: Oral administration: Decoction, 3-5 qian (fresh weight: 0.5-1 liang); or mashed juice. External use: Mashed and applied.

The method of consuming Sinianghuang is to boil the herb to remove the residue and drink the juice. The daily dosage is 3-5 qian (fresh weight: 0.5-1 liang); or mashed juice. For external use, mash the herb and apply it to the affected area.
